The Nanakuli High School football team rallied from a 16-point halftime deficit to beat Konawaena 25-23 on Saturday in a First Hawaiian Bank Division II State Championship first-round game at Kealakekua, Hawaii, and earn a meeting with Lahainaluna in the semifinals.
The Golden Hawks (7-4) trailed 23-7 at halftime and 23-15 after three quarters. In the fourth, Chazz Troutman's touchdown run and two-point conversion pass to Lansen Liki tied the score, and a safety on an intentional-grounding call against the third-seeded Wildcats (9-5) provided the final points.
Nanakuli and Lahainaluna will meet Saturday at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. The Lunas (8-1) were seeded second and received a bye to the semifinal round.
