Kaniela Ing not right choice for South Maui
August 7, 2012

We question Kaniela Ing's intellectual and practical knowledge about South Maui state House District 11. We question Ing, recent graduate from college, about his lack of maturity demonstrated in debates, and when confronting people. We question the real reason he wants to be a state House representative for South Maui.

Ing may need a job after college; the position for state House representative District 11 should not be it.

A credible candidate should be a seasoned Kihei citizen. Kihei is a complex area that needs to be represented wisely. Ing has not resided in Kihei long enough to be knowledgeable of our past and current needs. We are a fast-growing complex community whereby history helps to create our future, and Ing cannot know this if he has not been a longtime Kihei resident.

To resolve South Maui District 11's demanding issues, it takes a mature working resident who has already experienced being a volunteer, resident, leader, family and educator in Kihei. Ing does not meet any of these involvements.

He is a young graduate who needs a job, and we wish him much success in his search for employment, but please, not as our state House representative for South Maui.

We should not have Kaniela Ing, who lacks professional presence, residency, knowledge and community participation to speak and act on behalf of South Maui District 11.
