I am writing in regard to an article published in the Aug. 8 issue of The Maui News about a young man who fell and died in Kihei.
What I find so distressing is the fact the article was written from preliminary findings of the Maui Police Department and The Maui News chose to include possibly jumping as a cause of death. No one has ever stated to the family that the young man who died had jumped. The family, as of Aug. 10, had yet to speak to a police officer about the findings.
I find it so repulsive that The Maui News took preliminary findings to base the article on. This poor family is grieving over the loss of their own and this article was written with no regard to the survivors.
Shame on you, The Maui News.
